Can you get into law school with a BFA?

I am going to major in photography, and my dad has always told me that I would make a great lawyer. A BFA is a bachelor of fine arts, so it’s a real degree. Law schools would accept that, right?

Yes, law schools will accept any bachelors degree. My classmates (T14 law school) have the following degrees: BA, BS, BBA, BSN (nursing), B.Arch, B.Mus, BFA…probably others, too…plus a ton of foreign and graduate degrees.

With that said, it would probably be helpful to take coursework that requires you to do a fair amount of reading and writing…art history or other subjects. This doesn’t have to be to the point of a second major or minor, but it could help admissions staff to see that you’ll succeed in law school (and it will probably help you succeed in law school!)

I agree 100% with stacy. You must be able to read thousands of pages of material and write well to succeed in law school (and in the practice of law).
