Candidates, meet "that guy"

I suppose some of you may question my ‘dog in this fight’. Allow me to say that I have seen probably 40 or so young men and women off to the SAs over the past 10 yrs or so. Milton’s Yuma newspaper article is typical of the candidate who will do well. Excited, exuberant, he has the world by the horns. He is an optimist. He doesn’t need a bunch of naysayers telling him that things will be tough. He knows it. He will take the shock of R-Day in stride.

There is a time for exuberance and a time for humility. Now is the time for exuberance. The academy will temper that with humility. One does not need to be a member of the WP ‘family’ to know that it is a lot easier to temper enthusiasm than it is to create it.

Attitude is everything. Allow him to have his well deserved time in the sun. Small town America deserves it. That press release, in itself, was probably worth three or four applications next year. Who knows, one of them may be President of the US. It really does my heart well to know that there are still young men and women interested in this.
