CAP21 Ending? A Message from Dean Campbell to CAP21 Admitted Students

In my opinion, back when this thread was more active, the changes had just been announced and were in the midst of being fleshed out and many questions arose (understandably!) for current and entering students. I believe that the parents of such students here (and I am not one of them and am not privy to this or involved in it as my kid already graduated) were suggesting that parents and students inquire directly and make their thoughts and concerns known to the powers that be since many details were still being worked out. I think they felt that there is power in numbers and that the more voices that are heard by those making some decisions, the better. That said, since that time, a thread HAS gone up on this forum that explains the outcome of many of the details (perhaps not all the details but more than before):

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/nyu-tisch-mt/734762-message-chair.html

From what I can see, this thread right here that I am posting on now died down as a newer thread took off where this one left off as new information had been released from Tisch. That’s what I was observing.

While I may be one of the frequent NYU posters you refer to, I had nothing to really add as I am not privy to inside information for current and entering students. I fielded questions if I could but could not say what was going on at the school as the letters being released went to those who are in the program now or about to enter. I do believe that many posters have shared what they know on this forum. But that can never replace getting information from the direct source. And in this case, the information was in flux and it made sense for those who are students to make their concerns known or to pose their valid questions with the source. Perhaps the parents here who were doing that wanted other parents and students to chime in with CAP21 and with Tisch to have certain issues addressed as it can help if a school hears from more than just a few. Power in numbers, as they say.

Yes, new applicants won’t be applying and stating CAP21 as a first choice studio as that is no longer an option, but a new MT studio has taken its place. That said, you don’t apply to a studio at Tisch. You apply to Tisch drama and at the audition, let them know the studio you are hoping to enter and obviously a MT applicant sings at the audition.
