If the interview went well enough, regular visits become a real possibility.
I would really like to try kayaking. There is kayaking here, but the possibility of a “wet exit” in fast water compels me to stay in the canoe. (We also had the clam boat pizza at Lucky Bones; the leftovers made for a great lunch on our ride.)

Kayaking in the Cape May area is fantastic. I have never wet-exited except on purpose. there’s so much good flat water, and it’s possible to get out in wavy water without going through surf (either on the Bay side or by going up the Harbor to the ocean.) We have sea kayaks with fairly small cockpits, which means we can continue kayaking for a while even when it starts to get chilly, as opposed to the sit-on-tops which is what most people use around here. But those are great, too, and the more common ones for rental.

Definitely try it if you get the chance! It’s such a nice way to get a different view on things.

Kayaking with a full moon in the wetlands of Cape May is great.

Hope the weather forecasters are wrong, but Cape May appears to be in the ‘danger zone’ for Hurricane Sandy. A direct hit looks very likely…

We’re about to head down that way (eek!) to shore up the place. We’re right off the Delaware Bay; right now there’s a line drawn of a probable storm past right up it past us. But H was halfway through replacing the front stoop’s roof pillars and he wants to finish it tomorrow. We’ll probably drive back up through a ton of rain on Sunday, then fingers crossed on the basement, which has flooded badly in the past.
