There’s no mention of the model change on lexus.com, but they’re not known to publish these things before they have to.

Which is what I always thought until Al Gore 3rd was caught going 100 in his Prius…

Did you see that Toyota has fallen to 7th place (IIRC) in JD Powers initial quality survey? And that Car and Driver magazine had a Camry finish in (IIRC) fourth place in a comparison test of family sedans largely because interior parts kept breaking off? Toyota is changing, and not for the better. (Besides the current Camry is so ugly that I’d have to walk up to it backwards and get in with my eyes closed.)

WashDad, I agree - the new Camry is butt-ugly! And they do not make them like they used to. However, Lexus still keeps its spot at the top of the heap.

Uri, I’m looking at the brochure sent to me as a Lexus owner (H drives it but I get the junk mail). It states there that the major changes to the design of the 2009 RX are 5 new exterior colors as well as a light burled maple trim on the iside.

Anyhow, we just bought a really cool 2008 Corolla Matrix for Ds. Really cheap and even got 0% finance (learned about it on the web and made the dealer mad when we asked for it since we played the “cash card”). Why such a bargain? Rededsigned 2009 Matrices are coming, and Toyota is trying to make room for them. Do I care that 2009 is going to have extra thingamajigs? I plan to keep the car until it rusts through, and 5 years down the road both the 2008 and 2009 are going to be obsolete. So if you are planning to keep your set of wheels for more than 5-7 years and know what you want, go for the savings, not the newest plastic knob.

If you are in the profession where you have to impres fancy clients by giving them a lift in your rig, another lease could be a better option. This way you can update your ride more often.

Frankly, if you lived in our neck of the woods, owning a Prius would get you twice as many dates as owning a fancy beemer. :)

Uri, there was no redesigned RX at the auto show last night. Customers were told that the redesigned model will not be available until the 2010 model. The only changes (which are small, although it’s nice to see some new colors!) are the ones which BunsenBurner detailed above.

Most of the Camry problems are with the new 6 speed auto trans. They probably have it fixed by now. I have two 2006 Toyota models and they have been flawless with just over 30,000 miles on each so far.
