Carnegie Hall - What to Wear?

Thanks so much for all the wonderful advice and excellent ideas - we are exhausted (finally found a rental house, signed the new lease yesterday, and we’re scrambling to move on top of schedules that are already overwhelmed), so we haven’t had a chance to circle back to this yet. CGM I agree she doesn’t want to look like him - she will want to look like a girl, and she will want to wear a nice dress, and, I think the little black dress is what she’ll end up doing.

I’m in NYC tomorrow (where I’m hearing it’s like a zillion degrees below zero - brrrrr), but some free time Wednesday afternoon, maybe I can shop for a coat for her while I’m there. Mom60 good idea re Ross, we have those here, I’ll try that too, or encourage her to try that option.

I hate shopping when you HAVE to have something - it seems like when you don’t need anything and just wandering around shops, you find fabulous clothing and endless, awesome choices - and actually, when you really don’t have any money to spend that works double - but, when you just have to have a particular thing, and especially if you’re prepared to pay for it no matter what the price - you cannot find it no matter how hard you try…

Citygirlsmom - I like your sense of style. Great advise.
OP - since you are going to be in the City tomorrow, check out Lord & Taylor, great black dresses on their windows.

i just got this in black…its a strapless dress and a blazer

and we call it mission shopping - can’t look at ANYTHING else- so if its a black dress- we can only loook at those and black tops and skirts, which is another option

so don’t get distracted walk in walk out

CGM that’s an excellent suggestion, thank you for the link. That looks like a very nice option, extremely attractive.

Quick update, she just called me from the plane back, and said Carnegie Hall was absolutely amazing, just incredible…
