I am not even sure what forms you are talking about? We didn’t have to fill those out, or is this for an appeal?

@upstate13 your child will be getting an email after payment of the enrollment fee that tells them what to do for next steps, including the mandatory forms.

@bearlife - two of the questions asked about siblings on the CSS profile, which CMU uses, are “How much did your parents pay for this person’s education for the 2014-15 academic year?” and “How much will your parents pay for this person’s education for the 2015-16 academic year?”

I do not know how they look at these numbers in conjunction with the number of siblings in college question in determining the impact of the sibling leaving/completing college.

@collegedadoftwo - that is so annoying - I don’t even have a printer in my office anymore. I agree with you.

Three days after we agreed to send S to CMU, my husband is still not able to sleep because of the money involved. We are paying full price. I am OK with it, since it was the “best” college S got into and I feel it is an investment that will pay off in the long run. He is in CIT. Can any recent graduates back me up? Thanks!

We are in the same boat. I am sending my son to Lehigh IBE Honors program and cost wise it is similar to CMU. He got into 4 state schools honors colleges with full tuition waivers. So I agree with you that It is indeed investment for the future.

And just now he got an email from CMU that no one from the priority wait list (he is priority wait listed for CIT and Business schools) is accepted. I am not sure why the hell they asked for reconfirmation if they are not going to accept even a single one from the priority wait list.

@NoelMaple

I heard and saw from numerous sources that CMU grads - especially in SCS and CIT ECE - are “job magnets”. The cost for SCS was double the cost of Duke (where I will be attending in the Fall), making the decision not as grueling as it would have been had they had same price tags.

Congrats on your son’s choice. It will undoubtedly pay off in the future.

@NoelMaple It seems like we are going through the same thing in our house. D decides CMU is the best fit, and we have to pay full price. And yes, my husband did not sleep well for a few nights, but we as parents also agree that CMU is the best fit for her, so she is going. She is also in CIT. I am confident that this investment will pay off. We know many graduates from CMU, and some are doing very well.

did anyone receive a letter saying that openings may be available during summer?
did anyone respond to that?
