Carnegie Mellon University Class of 2024 Wait list

Given that at least 20+ people were admitted to SCS today, I feel like they sent out the same number of emails as spots, and the rolling basis refers to the lesser and lesser number of spots left after each person declines/accepts.

I just got off the waitlist for CMU SCS. I was on the priority waiting list so pretty sure they pull from there first and then move on to the regular one. I got an email around 10 AM that said I was in and to respond whether or not I accept. If you don’t respond within 24 hours, they move onto the next person. Once you respond, they’ll send you an official decision letter. They also wrote that I would get a call in case they don’t hear back by end of day. Hope this was helpful and best of luck to anyone still waiting to hear back!

I think CMU got their enrolment goals with Dietrich which is why we may not be seeing anyone comment about them on CC or Reddit. It sucks but it is what it is.

is it true that if you are in the priority waiting list and did not receive a call or email today you get off or no chance at all?

@vgulla I saw your son’s stats on the UCLA thread and they are very impressive. You must be very proud!

Based upon the Waitlist FAQ my guess is that they are first reaching out to those on the Priority Wait List that do not need financial aid, and then based upon when they meet their threshold they will look at other students that do need financial aid.

Does your son need financial aid?

PS: Except @janu2481 just got in and identified as international with high financial aid need, but I think the school was for Bio and not SCS. Correct me if I got that wrong @janu2481

You’re correct, I am an international student but with special circumstances in that I qualify for financial aid, and I got in for Bio.

For acting they already call 3 students from the priority list who already committed, therefore I think none else will be called or enrolled, from either priority waiting list or regular waiting list the reached the threshold.
