Carroll School of Management Honors Program vs Tepper (Carnegie Mellon)

Hey…So I’m a prospective student as well, so all I have to say is based off of research and visits.

I’ve been accepted to Tepper and CSOM Honors. And I also am looking into the I-Banking career, so I’ll just pass on my personal opinions and research.

I personally LOVE CSOM Honors. I’ve been lucky enough to be accepted to Wharton (obviously the better program recruiting wise), but I am still seriously contemplating Boston College. It’s just down to those two now. BC is a beautiful and well rounded school. And the honors program definitely adds a lot to the program. The kids are super nice, supportive, smart, “normal” students. Everyone is really close, and when I visited, everyone seemed happy and successful.

Also, every semester you get 2 or so Honors classes, and as an honors student you get priority for all the best classes. You will get to know some of the best professors in the field, and when recruiting comes, that will help a lot. Also, many CSOM Honors kids are working in the top firms now, and will put in a good word for you, just because they know the Honors program is great.

The honors program also has awesome ties with silicon valley and venture capital, if you’re at all interested in that. [TechTrek[/url]

Both schools are recruited by the top I-Banks. Just check out their career surveys. Both do well, and there’s no clear winner. One quick example…2010, BC had 6 Kids going to JPMorgan, Carnegie Mellon only had 1. Others, CM has more than BC.

You can check out the actual numbers of 2010 and previous years yourself: http://www.bc.edu/offices/irpa/meta-elements/pdf/heoa/post-grad_plans_surv.pdf](http://www.bc.edu/schools/csom/departments/informationsystems/techtrek.html)

And of course you have to consider the other qualities besides simple recruiting, like Pittsburgh v. Boston, student body, etc.

Best of luck to you. Every student fits a different school. I hope you are happy with your choice. You really can’t go wrong. See you on Wall Street in a few years! ;)
