Sorry, but I haven’t followed this whole thing. Did you say, Casey’s dad is sending vibes that this whole circus is a charade?

And EPTR, who are “they” calling a molester? Was that the BF? And when you write “As much as must love his daughter…” you’re talking about Casey’s dad, right?

How is it this evolution of what happened isn’t predetermined before the trial gets started?

I’m no expert, either as I really follow it in fits and starts but the defense pulled a lot of “theories” out of their a**es. They accused Casey’s Dad, George and her brother Lee of molesting Casey and thus making her behave strangely, resulting in the death of Cayley. They also announced that Cayley had drowned in the family pool and that George (the dad of Casey, Cayley’s grandfather) had covered it up and hid the body.

Those that know more, correct me if I got any of this wrong.

And yes, during todays testimony, George inferred that he know longer believes that Casey is innocent in the death of Cayley. He didn’t come right out and say it but it was clearly implied.

Also there is no baby daddy in the picture. I was referring to George, Casey’s father when I said he.

I wish this story would stop getting press, it’s been 2 (maybe 3) years since this happened and it’s still on the news. Seriously, there are plenty of more deserving, more relevant and more important news stories other than some deranged lady murdering her child.

Oh, yes, I agree. I am SO above this discussion. Why would anyone LOWER themselves to post in a thread about such a YAWNER of a BORE of a subject, especially when one could stimulate one’s mind, like I do, with more DESERVING and RELEVANT and frankly SMART-PEOPLE topics? I’m only posting here because it’s so IRONIC unto the point of being FUNNY that a highbrow wit such as myself would STOOP, frankly, to even be SEEN discussing this trash.

Okay, now that’s out of the way. Who else watched Headline News today? :)

Well, George Anthony’s suicide note was admitted into evidence over the defense’s objections, and it suggested that he didn’t know what happened to Caylee. He didn’t mention drowning or molestation, as the defense apparently wanted the jury to infer that he had, and basically just said that he’d failed Caylee and wanted to be with her, and that he had lots of unanswered questions about how she died. So that kind of discredits the whole “George-was-there-when-Caylee-drowned” angle.

That’s as much as I saw, since I was ahem working. ;)

Actually, I don’t think it was a proper attempt as such. He left town, checked into a cheap motel, left a note, and had some kind of pills that would have constituted an overdose, but I don’t think he actually took them before the police tracked him down. I guess you’d call that a suicide gesture with intent to commit? I dunno.

The defense didn’t anticipate that once the family realized that Casey was involved with Caylee’s death that they wouldn’t want her to come home.

Who would want this 20-something brat back in their home…she would never be able to hold down a job (she has 7 felony convictions…I think that’s the number). She’d be a financial burden and a pain in the butt for the rest of their lives…and this is a family of modest means. The last thing they’d want is for her to have another child…which could happen if she were acquitted or found guilty of a lesser crime with little jail time. I think they want the state to have to support her.

I think they want her to be convicted, but not get the DP…and that’s what’s likely going to happen.

I don’t think she’ll get death either. Two much question of it being an accident. There will be at least a few jurors who won’t be able to sentence her to death. I don’t think we will ever know what really happened to that little girl. That is so sad to me. Her story may never be told.

I was thinking about the delay last weekend when the judge ordered a psych review to determine if Casey is mentally competent. Maybe Jose Baez had been relying on Casey’s stories about “abuse” when he came up with his defense theory and finally realized it’s all made up.
It’s hard to assist in your own defense if you are a pathological liar.

I am really impressed with Jeff Ashton. He has done his homework very well and I LOVED the way he turned the scenario around with the Grief Expert, in playing out the hypothetical situation(Casey). He not only got to state the whole prosecution’s theory for the jurors, he got the Grief expert to say that, in that particular hypothetical situation, (Casey) might not have been grieving, but may have been having “magical thinking.” Absolutely, f***ing brilliant! She then inferred that that hypothetical person would the be out of her area of expertise and would have needed an intervention of a different kind.

I wonder if in closing arguments the defense is going to claim that after George found Caylee’s body in the pool, and he yelled at Casey, that he agreed to hide the body because he was afraid that Casey would reveal his “abuse” history.

Someone suggested yesterday that the defense is going to claim that Cindy knew about the “abuse” which is why Casey didn’t go to an OB/GYN until she was 19. I know lots of girls that never went to an OB/GYN when they were younger. Pediatricians handle a lot of stuff til kids are 18ish.

Baez lost the case yesterday… the suicide note is proof that Geo didn’t know where the body was and didn’t know the events surrounding Caylee’s death.

Today the defense is supposed to rest its case. Will Casey take the stand? I would love it if she did. I’d love to see Jeff Aston play “cat and mouse” with her.

I wish i could watch it today. They won’t do the closing arguments today, though. I can’t imagine what that will look like.
Good luck to the defense trying to tie all of these ridiculous theories and statements into some kind of believable series of events.

That “grief expert” was a real piece of work. She acted like she was at a dinner party instead of a courtroom. And those “peer reviewed journals” she contributed to? Give me a break.
