After a year, my kitten is a full grown cat. Lately, he showed zero interest in climbing the tree…then we decorated it :joy:

I would definitely use this as a Christmas card photo!

I remember last year I used a mixture of several cats in Christmas trees to paint this…

We bought some cat deterrent spray at Pet Smart. That stuff wasn’t working, so my wife decided to get a little bolder. When the cat tried to climb the tree again she sprayed the cat directly. That worked…he got mad and ran outside. :joy:

Love this thread!! :cat2: :black_cat:

Our current kitty is too fat and old to climb the tree, but she camps out under it and plays with the lower branches. So while only non-breakable ornaments can be placed there, I love seeing the “playful kitten” come out.

Orange oil (like aromatherapy) is the only thing we’ve found that actually works as a deterrent - spray along the skirt and cat won’t go near it.

If we wanted something to the keep the cats away, all we have to do is get the cat
carrier out of the attic and put it under the tree. They will all go into hiding!

P.S. we’ve done the water squirt bottle as well!

I didn’t do a tree this year, I had to yell at my cat for most of Dec last year and that’s not fair to yell at a cat for being a cat.

Wait for retaliation.

Ours used to love laying on the tree skirt, right on top where a few tiny (pre-LED) bulbs were warming it up from underneath. It was his personal heating blanket. One ongoing struggle was to keep him from drinking the tree water - definitely the same as in his bowl.

The pine bark and needles are a good source of vitamin C.

I know it’s not Christmas season yet…but funny story. The wife went for a walk around the neighborhood this morning. She started walking up the next street over. While walking, a neighbor was opening his garage…and OUR cat darted out of his garage at supersonic speed. :joy:

Had a similar experience with our neighbor’s cat. We came home after a few hours out, opened the garage door to find her casually sitting on a folding chair. No rush to leave!

The cat hasn’t even touched the Christmas tree this year. It’s nice that the beautiful tree is still there, but Christmas seems empty without the cat knocking it down. Any cat pictures this year?

How about the one I painted last year - it was a conglomerate of many of the ones I saw last year.
