No surprise to me. We had a Ragdoll (or ragdoll mix–we don’t for sure because he was a stray) who used to dominate/annoy my daughter’s very big and very strong and uptight German Shepherd by “aggressively” grooming her. Cat used to put his paw on the dog’s eyes to hold her down/still then groomed her ear tips. He licked all the fur off the tips of her ears for years. It only stopped when the cat passed away at age 22.
Love the photo! Oh I can relate - we have a barfer here. Cats… If they weren’t so adorable and soft and fluffy and purry… ![]()
My husband showed me a YouTube video of a wild cat moving its ears in a weird way. I said, “That is a healthy looking caracal!” He was floored that I would be able to recognize a cat species! Dude… I am a member of the cat lovers thread! ![]()
Looking for information about the “Smalls” meal program for cats. I am so over cleaning up cat barf. It’s just one of my cats but she does it all the time, and only on the new carpet, not on the LVP. Even where I have LVP, she barfs on the throw rug. Ughhh - just thought I’d ask about Smalls to see if anyone knew it might help, their website says it does, but IRL does it? Isn’t cheap so, would like to know how anyone that uses it and how often you feed it to the cats - twice a day, once a day, alternate with kibble?
We’ve tried it, but it didn’t seem to help. We later found out that the cat who was throwing up had a tumor in his stomach, and we kind of suspect that it was the cause of his barfing. So it’s hard to judge Smalls based on our experience. We tried a lot of things before we lost our big guy.
We’ve been worried about our current cat, who has been losing weight & just seemed off. We took her to the vet yesterday. Lots of tests, an X-ray that showed stuck stool, an enema, and success. So … $800 to find out that she’s constipated. (She was still able to pass stool, but only because it was able to get around what was stuck). She’s feeling much better now.
I’m afraid that might be what is making our eldest throw up every day. We are sort of in denial. We have closed off our newly carpeted room to them for a couple of hours after breakfast. That seems to be the worst time. They’ll still gotten it a few times, but I figure I’ve saved 500 stains in the last 18 months.
My bad Bengal boy has learned how to open the door of the room we keep him in so that our other cat can have some time out and about. UGH! Hopefully he will calm down soon. Starting Friday we will have 4 cats and a dog in our house. The dog and our Mr. Evil get along just fine, but the little cat we’ll be watching is tortured by Mr. Evil just like our little cat. He really is a bully. IF he would move slowly they’d be fine with him, but he wants to play HARD.
I admit it… my baby is a bully! My son’s male bengal is staying with us, and he’s so sweet. My guy is really trying to torture him. He follows him around, he’s pounced on him a couple of times, etc. You would think both of these cats are much smaller by their quiet little meows.
So. Many. Cats!
One of my former students sent me pictures of the cats he encountered on his recent trip to Istanbul. So cool!
Did anyone see these cats that were rescued from an abandoned boat near Tacoma?

That is so sad. Animal hoarding is animal cruelty. Hope the remaining kitties are rescued…
There is a very heartwarming documentary about Istanbul street cats.
My tortie loves to watch it. ![]()
An update on the boating cats in Tacoma: about 60 cats have been rescued. ![]()
Another update. Not sure if this link will work for all, so I’ll summarize below
Rescue drama!!! A pair walking nearby saw a cat swimming off the abandoned boat. Without hesitation they jumped in the water and swam up to the cat, grabbed and carried it to safety on their chests, swimming backstroke and handing it off to each other periodically to give a break. Another person took the cat to Humane Society. More cats were taken off the boat without the need for water rescue.
Turns out, the boat owner did not abandon it. He lived on the boat with the rapidly multiplying cats not knowing what to do about that as he had no money for spaying. He left the boat, according to him, to get care for a bad wound that got infected.
What a sad situation!
I saw this on Instagram today and ordered it for D2 for Christmas. She is going to think this is so funny!
