CC fashionistas- shoes for outdoor wedding

Pretty dress! I am way too tall to wear it I think because. If I bent over to talk to someone my underwear would show! But if I could I would still pick some pointy toe flats I think.

mom60, if you forego the hose, so many cute footwear options suddenly become available!

Just to show a few…

I’m not sure what the SJP shoe is made from but I would not wear it to this venue. I’m figuring that unless the drought continues any shoe I wear is a one time event. One reason to not spend a fortune on shoes. If the drought continues I could wear a sandal. I’m not committed to the hose. I might have 2 pairs of shoes. A dry weather option and a wet ground option.
My D will definitely wear hose if she doesn’t wear long. She has been living in a cold climate and is also an equestrian so her legs are pasty white. She is going shopping tomorrow with a friend. I hope she finds a dress.
Momofthreeboys- it isn’t as short on me. I look best showing a bit of leg. Below the knee on me looks frumpy.

Found the above shoe unworn in the closet of my younger D in black leather. It fits and if I find nothing else it might work.

Those are very similar to the DSW ones I posted…CL Laundry also has closed toe in patent. They are much more glam looking on! That is the style I would go with.

If there is a good chance the shoes will be a complete loss after the wedding, I’d go with the existing pair (and keep an alternative in the car just in case; said alternative coming from a place where it can be easily returned).

I’m thinking about ordering these
What’s the opinion of sling backs with hose?

I think these are beautiful. I would probably order a few of the pairs you are thinking about and try on with the dress and hose. I generally don’t wear hose with a slingback but if the hose is very sheer I don’t think it will be a problem.

No to sling backs with hose.

I know all the fashionistas will say no to hose with sling back but I wore hose with a dress to a wedding 2 weeks ago. The hose was so sheer that you could not tell I had hose on. My legs are starting to age and the hose definitely gave me a more polished look (at least in my opinion).

I don’t understand why hose with slingbacks would be a problem; they dont have seams on the heels. Of course you wouldn’t wear hose with reinforced heels! I’m a yes on hose with slingbacks.

If the hose does not bunch up around the heels and there is no reinforced heel panel, I say go with the hose! I think those EF shoes rock. I have a pair of her flats with built in wedge, and they are amazing.

Love the EF shoes, and I see no reason not to wear them with hose, as long as they don’t have heel reinforcement. (Do they even make those any more???)

I agree, I don’t see a problem with hose with closed-toe slingbacks.

I stand corrected! Wear your hose with your sling backs!

My fashionista kid who will not get caught dead in an outdated trend (after living in the fashion capital of the world) asked if I had a pair of transparent black tights! She said the weather called for tights with her Manolo (expropriated from my closet) peep toe d’orsays - but the tights had to be black because her outfit had enough bling. Phew!!! Found a pair…

Re the seam at the toe on hose. Didn’t everyone’s mother simply teach them to pull the stocking out a bit and tuck the seam under your toes so it wasn’t visible? I learned that as a little girl in the old days where ladies wore hose all the time.

Oh no, don’t wear pantyhose! They are so 1970s. Here’s a practical reason not to wear them-if your feet get wet the pantyhose will make your feet slide around inside the shoes-feels gross and is slightly dangerous.

I’d go for some strappy, maybe sparkly wedges in a charcoal or dark silver. I’d have to see a link to your dress to give you some good matches, though. There are some dresses you can’t wear strappy wedges with, and the wedge itself needs to be a dark, chic, slick material (no hemp). If you can link a picture from a catalog?

A thin beaded dress is more formal than semi-formal, @nottelling . Semi-formals I always go with little black dresses, or sometimes, a dark gunmetal gray dress. I tend not to sparkle a lot at weddings because the bride should be the only one sparkling (literally or figuratively).

Never pantyhose. Never, ever. It’s dark out-nobody will be looking at your legs. It makes them look like shiny sausages-nobody is fooled. Just get a great pedicure in case your shoes get soaked and you have to kick it on the dance floor barefoot

Shiny sausages? As opposed to stark white mottled sausages?

“It makes them look like shiny sausages-nobody is fooled.”

You probably have not looked at hose for at least 20 years… It evolved significantly.
