Andrew Jackson threatened the checks and balances of government when he disregarded the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the Indians living in the Arkansas Territory. He forced them to relocate west of the Mississippi resulting in the Trial of Tears. He also appointed Roger Taney to the Supreme Court. Taney is remember for the awful opinion he wrote for the Dread Scott case in which he said slaves are property and had no rights.
Jackson shouldn’t even be on the 20 dollar bill.

Andrew Jackson was the last president to balance the budget and understood that the government had minimal role in economics. He ended the 2nd bank as well. Wish he was around.

Bill Clinton was the last to balance the budget, Andrew Jackson was the last to have no national debt.

Jackson was a usurper of authority, Clay was a wussy(always wanted to compromise, lol), and Crawford was from Georgia. Enough said.

Wikipedia says that John C. Calhoun was the running mate for all 4 candidates. What a cheap move. You can’t freaking do that!

Let’s review Jackson’s presidency.

-Unethical Indian Removal Act justified by a hardly legal Treaty of New Echota (signed only to bypass the Worcester v. Georgia decision).
-Creation of the spoils system, which resulted in the loss of $1 million from a single appointee.
-Bank veto, pet banks, and specie circular, all of which have been credited to cause the Panic of 1837.
-Restriction of abolitionist material from being mailed or debated in Congress.

. . . and the list goes on.

That said, I’m afraid of all of the candidates, so my vote goes to Crawford, as he died anyway (who knows, maybe his VP would’ve been better?)

Wow it’s getting close between Quincy Adams and Clay. I forget, are we before or after the 12th admendment at this point?
