Would Sprint work @ north campus…?
i’m also an engineer, so probably north campus and the engineering buildings will be the places that i’ll be at most…

apparently, sprint uses verizon’s network sometimes, so it’s pretty decent most of the time. my roommate had sprint and she was fine.

so… i’ll be roaming to verizon’s network, right?
will i be charged for extra then???

bump. so it wouldnt matter if i get sprint??

correct… why do you want sprint? if you are going for a cheap plan i suggest tmobile.

t-mobile is just as unreliable…

the best is verizon with att catching up

youre right it is less reliable, but i think if you are going for a cheaper plan than verizon/att, then tmobile is the better option.

cuz i was thinking of getting Palm Pre, which apparently only services via Sprint…

Get verizon and preferably a blackberry (for bbm). It may be pricy, but you’ll have 5 bars everywhere on campus.

fyi… the blackberry tour is being released on Verizon in early July (and sprint apparently)… so don’t buy a new blackberry for a few weeks. bbm is really nice, but the pre looks amazing… i made the mistake of buying the storm right away, so if I were you, I would wait a few weeks to see how the Pre fares in reviews/public perception before purchasing.

is there any way to get a cellphone shipped from verizon or AT&T to canada?

I’m not sure, but its easy to head to triphammer mall your first day to get one.

And I second the blackberry tour advice, although be advised that half the school will have one within a week of the release date.

was this the case with the i-phone? i didnt feel like it was.

I was in high school when it came out so I wouldn’t know. But the majority of people have verizon, so that probably would have a lot to do with it.

at least for my friends most people got/get blackberries for blackberry messenger and because they like a physical keyboard and so they can use them for work. i do have a few friends with the iphone though.

From the Cornell Chronicle:

Summary of the article: AT&T and Verizon are probably the best way to go

i had sprint when i was on north campus and it worked out so well! you may want to double check, but i’m pretty sure that roaming is free under all sprint plans. so since sprint roams on verizon’s network, you get the benefit of the best service without a big pricetag. on my sprint phone, there are three options for roaming: automatic, sprint only, roam only. i just kept my phone on roam only so that i was constantly on the verizon network because the automatic option doesn’t always work well. just note, that whenever you turn off your phone the option will return to ‘automatic’ when you turn your phone back on.
