Cell Phones Comparable to Iphone

I have no clue about Verizon. The only services I have ever considered are ATT & TMobile because we were focused on the quality & continuity of service while traveling abroad. (Family plan, d. did a LOT of traveling) – so we needed GSM service, global equipped phones. At the time we were selecting the service, ATT (formerly Cingular) and TMobile were the only ones offering GSM.

I don’t know how things are for the future. As I haven’t run into any problems, I’ve got no motivation to change – but then again, I realize that service could be very different in different communities.

To worknprogress – what kind of phone does your d have? When my d. had her blackberry, I had a tough time hearing her, but that problem didn’t exist with her previous phone – nor with her newer phone. I have the same problem with other friends using blackberry’s with other providers, so I always thought it was a blackberry problem, not a service issue.

I’m not sure that ATT cares all that much about the iPhone, since they clearly are pushing the Windows 7 phones now (2 for 1 offer on pricing). In terms of volume, ATT probably does better with phones that are priced more modestly – there’s more incentive for people to upgrade phones and renew their contracts if the upgrade cost can be held to under $150.

Everyone has its own reason to use a cell phone service. Before I switch to ATT, I was a Sprint customer, their service locally is better for me. When I travel internationally, I buy a global GSM phone just for that purpose. As long as the phone book can be exchanged between the phones, I am fine with that. Now a days, there are more communication choices, you can carry a Skype phone while abroad, as long as there is a wifi, you can call back for $3/mo flat or free. I also uses Skype in so my local business calls are routed to Skype and I can get those calls free of internatioal roaming.

Cell phone companies push one phone over the other just to promote their service, they care less what kind of phone you carries, as long as they have you as a customer, they will give you the phone free or below the cost. The cost of a phone is already figured in the monthly charges.
