Challenging Property Tax

Yeah!!! Congrats.

I have a cousin (an ex-prosecuting attorney), who is now a SAHM with 4 kids, making a nice living as an attorney who challenges (and wins) property taxes in PA, so yes, it can be done. She has a “busy season” and works at home, after the kids are in bed, until some ungodly hour (2 or 3 am). Ask around (neighbors and such) for referrals.

I’d love to change mine, but unfortunately as far as I can tell it’s too low. A friend of mine who does this for a living said it was low years ago. Our town hasn’t reassessed since the 1950s so assessments are totally wacky and challenging them is big business.

We have businesses that do this for a percentage of the first year’s tax savings (high % - I think 40%) but since it resets your base value I think it’s well worth it to hire them every 3-4 years.
