Normally, once you have paid form something the very least you would want is to know the answer, whether a yes, no, or waitlist.
Your strategy is very sound, apply to very good safety schools in Canada where its 99% based on your high school grades, and aim higher in the US where the holistic process is unpredictable even for the most qualified students, unless you have made multi-million dollar donations, are an international superstar, or an athlete they really need.
Sit still, wait, and decide amongst your choices when they come out. Also think hard about why you would want to pay nearly 350k in additional tuition and fees over four years to attend a US College.
