Chance a theatre/acting-inclined junior? I'll chance you back!

Okay, this whole thread worries me a little— I’m afraid you’re getting false hope as far as your BFA schools go. Admissions are HIGHLY competitive for those schools, and even with a 4.0/2400, one could easily be rejected from ANY auditioned BFA program. The auditioned programs you’ve listed admit students based anywhere from roughly 50% (NYU) to almost 100% (UNCSA) on the AUDITION (which actually is just an easier way of saying everything but your app, and includes your type— yes, hair color, height, weight, etc!—, demeanor/personality, etc.). I know you acknowledged that it would be hard to chance AMDA and UNCSA, but I would argue that it’s impossible to “chance” online almost ANY auditioned program. Some schools admit students academically and artistically separately (though I don’t know for sure of any on your list that do), and in those cases you could be chanced for academic admission— without which you could not attend the school, regardless of how fierce your audition was! Otherwise, however, you need to be in the ballpark for admission, but not necessarily “IN” as they would say on this kind of thread  I would say that you ARE academically good to go for all of the schools on your list that I am familiar with. Congrats!

All that said, do KEEP YOUR GRADES UP for the rest of the year and the beginning of senior year— merit scholarships are where the big bucks are! $$$$

Just wanted to set the record straight, because the theatre admissions process is so drastically unlike anything else, and is virtually impossible for those who are not involved in it (i.e. the very kind yet misinformed people who have posted thus far!) to understand! Please excuse me if this comes off the wrong way, this is my first time venturing out of the bubble that is the Theater/Drama and Musical Theatre boards (which you MUST check out— they are a wealth of information.)

I am a current senior who has just finished this crazy BFA process— of the schools on your list, I applied to BU, Emerson, and NYU, was admitted of the BFA programs at BU and NYU and waitlisted at Emerson (for BFA MT), along with lots of other applications/acceptances/rejections. This is a wiiiild ride!

You sound like a sweet, motivated guy and I wish you all the best in your college applications and auditions!!
