Chance a worried senior for a few UC'S! I'll chance back

UC Hopeful, this new forum format has me a little confused, so forgive me for responding here. I I am not a fan of “chance me” threads, but I sometimes respond to UC “chance me” threads, because the UC’s share their admit rates. If you look at my admission profile link, then click on the pdf file, you can see what the admit rate is for various stats.

I must say it scares me a little to know that a Senior in a California high school does not know how to calculate a UC GPA. Maybe I misunderstood. I have learned so much here, I guess I take too much for granted.

So for most UC’s, only Sophmore and Junior grades count, only UC approved honors (there is a website to check) and AP’s are weighted. Some schools are more “holistic” than others; some have a pretty transparent set of points for various things. At least they used to. Some might have moved away from this, but a few years ago UCSB gave points for an upward trend of 1 point in your gpa between sophomore and junior year.

Did you apply to CSU’s? Maybe the one in your local service area? Some CSU’s can be harder than some UC’s, mostly because of campus wide and major impaction. Where you live can give you an advantage at some CSU’s. I’m sure you have been to the CSU Mentor site, but here is a link to some impaction info.
