northeastmom - all incoming freshman are guaranteed housing on-campus whether in-state or OOS. After that they can choose to live on campus or off. As a transfer, housing was not available this past Fall due to the huge incoming class. Usually there was some availablitlity in past years. My son is hoping to get on-campus housing this Spring as a transfer. Hopefully, things have settled down from the fall and some housing has opened up.

I am assuming your child is an in-coming freshman. The choices of housing for them are either suite style or corridor style dorms. They can pick a preference and the school will try and accomodate them. There is also a program called FYI - First Year Initiative. They live in the dorm together, I forget if it’s Esopus or Lenape, both are newer dorms on campus. They take 2 courses together and have a more close knit first year experience. If you want more info on that program, here is a link.
