I have heard that some schools don’t consider AP scores that much. His GPA is good and he’s in the top 5% of his class. I have 2 kids who have been in several school systems. One school system prepared students extremely well for AP exams. In the other school system I had to buy my kid study materials and make sure she prepared on her own. I wouldn’t say that he is not able to do college work. He just didn’t have the preparation. In some high schools, kids taking AP history or AP English write essays every week. In one of my daughter’s high schools she took 3 AP history/english classes and wrote 1 or 2 graded essays for each class.
