C’mon a couple more…WILL CHANCE BACK

Your…amazing! O=

I think its silly for people to try to tell you where you’re going to get in. With boht oyur junior and senior year ahead of you there’s too much information that hasn’t happened yet, like grades, EC’s, awards. For example, with your current SAT scores I’d say you chances at schools is a lot lower than I’m sure it’ll be after you retake it, but you haven’t done so yet.

also, ifyou and your sibling are attending college at the same time the price of the young sibling of the two is really really low. When my friend’s sister went to college she had to pay around 3000 for what was a 50,000 dollar uni because her sister was already in college.

@danjinc: I already got a 34 on the ACT though…I don’t know I might just submit that. And I know I still have time, but right now I have my ACT done, lots of my big EC’s (Intel ISEF, Nat’l Hist Day), but mostly I was looking for suggestions for junior/senior year.

Is that sibling thing true @ most schools though? I’ve never heard of that. That would be amazing lol.

thanks for chancing me!

and I think that wherever you decide, you stand a good shot, schools are desperate for females in engineering, especially with your ethnic background, good luck!

Just a heads up, for some of the school you’re applying to you may still have to report all SAT scores no matter what I think, the yale adcoom told me something about that when i helped ehr at a college fair.

For junio rsenior year I think from your previous experiences the things you should consider doing are:

Both Intel competitions and since you won states in policy try to get to TOC’s next year. I don’t know how well you placed in the national tournaments but if you can get some bids that will clearly set you apart form the multitude of debaters.

I don’t really have much other experience with th esibling thing unfortunately. but from what my friend told me its a common policy for colleges to drastically lower the college costs when parents have to support more than one child attending college.

take it easy for admissions, cuz ur in everywhere, ESP MIT.
plus since mit and harvard will have such great financial aid programs, for an applicant
like you i would think that you should be okay.

good luck and great job.

thanks all ![]()
Anyone else?

you have the advantage of being completely unique. get your sats above 2100 and the schools on your list will be paying you to go there

NYU-In
Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, and Caltech are generally considered reaches for everyone, but you’ll most likely get in at least 1 or 2 of them, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you you got into all of them. Congratulations on all of your achievements; I’m sure you’ll be very successful wherever you go. I would suggest finding academic/financial safeties, simply for peace of mind.

You are a URM, female seeking to be an engineer. You are friggin’ amazing. IN other words, if you keep up what you are doing now, I can see you making it into atleast half those schools, with making it into at least 2 of the top HYPMS schools, sans the P because you are not applying. :D

nyu is fairly easy to get in to in comparison to the others and you have a good act…
you should set the bar high though due to your race, location, major ect…
sophmore is pretty young to be figuring this out
build up your ecs!

yeah agree with most of the people on here. get that sat up like 2200+ and you should be in at most dude.

Wow, in everywhere. Debater and ISEF are two tank extracurriculars. If you don’t mind me asking, what did you do your project on? I’m trying to think of a project myself but I’m having a hard time finding an inspiration. Could you pm about how you came upon your project and what you did?

Hey!

Try RSI also. It’s a science research program that you’d be really interested in, and it’d really help your already bright resume. Take my word, you will get into MIT no matter what. Aim for 2150 - 2200 SAT minimum. Try to take math and science APs, and maintain/improve your class rank. Don’t take your essays lightly; they are also very important at those schools. Keep up your hard work. In Reno, I was in the biochemistry division. Gook luck and let me know when you get in to MIT! :D

MIT - reach
Yale - reach
Franklin Olin - not sure
Harvard - reach
NYU - probably in
Caltech - lower reach
Stanford - reach

well all those top schools are basically reaches fore veryone, but you have great scores and your Intel awards should help a lot

As a black female you’re in pretty good shape for olin, I guarentee they don’t get too many women. Keep it up and you’ll be fine

Wow, those kinds of stats next to mine make me want to just give up, haha. You could get in anywhere from the sound of it. I don’t know what advice I could possibly give…

You’re going ANYWHERE. This is honestly impressive. As a URM myself, I can relate to you having a lot of success and “overcoming the odds.” I think that you have a fine set of credentials and A LOT to offer any of the colleges/Uni you listed. ACT is PERFECT; GPA is PERFECT; ECs ARE PERFECT; EVERYTHING IS PERFECT. You have to understand that you’re a URM, so having credentials like this only helps you further. However, because schools like Harvard/Yale/Princeton are top tier schools, I still cant see “defintaley in!” because as I keep saying, some of the best get rejected from these schools for unknown reasons.

IMO:
MIT - In/Low Reach
Yale - ?
Franklin Olin - In
Harvard - ?
NYU - In
Caltech - In

? = Not sure

I also want to tell you, don’t be bummed if you don’t get into the school you’re dying to go to. You have A LOT to offer and any other school would be proud to have a student like you. If any of these schools don’t want you, it’s their loss - remember that! Good luck =]
