You say that you applied to and were accepted at a private school. Are you attending the private school? How competitive is the school you are currently attending?
Seton Hall! Strong IR, Near NYC, Catholic, Russian Minor, likely admit.

I’m local, two of my daughter’s friends attended Catholic prep schools in high school, IR intended majors, Jersey donut hole families (one had his grandparents pay HS tuition), great students, it was T20 or seton hall with great merit, Seton Hall won out. They’re in grad school now, I forget where but top schools for IR. Really smart guys (I’ve known them since they were 5).

And a suitcase school, if that’s OK.
We have friends whose kids are at Seton Hall right now, and they love the school. For a lot of reasons. And they have found a great circle of friends.
So, while some students do go home at times, apparently there are enough that don’t to have a nice social life.
