Chance & Match an international student - math major (Ivy League)

and another question: since I want to major in maths, do maths competitions results matter a lot? There are actually differences between maths competitions and college level maths, and you need to put a lot of efforts if you want to improve in maths olympiads. So I wonder if there’s still chance even if I’m not an IMO medalist or RSI participant.
Thank you

hi, sorry for bumping this reopened thread, I posted something in another thread which was not relevant to the topic, and decided to add it here under the friendly instruction of our super moderator
Right now the first semester of my junior year is close to concluding, and I could sort of foresee how it is gonna look like when I’m applying next year. Good grades in a rigorous curriculum, ECs are basically some nice hobbies which for sure lay in the Apply Sideways area, decent award(s) at the level of 4-5 of prestige, but with absolutely no research, no sport/science olympiad awards.
At this point should I still try to seek research opportunities to boost application chances, since my dream major is maths? Or any other suggestions, apart from sticking to my plan?
Appreciate for your help!

Stick to your plan. Be you. Do the things that interest you, and continue to get great grades.
