Why would dual degree ones be problematic? (Idk much)

How about these for the target universities
•Uni of Rochester
•UT Austin
•Wake forest
• Uni of Washington
• Lehigh
• Texas A&M

3+2 dual degree programs are rarely completed by transfer from the “3” school to the “2” school, because admission to the “2” school is often competitive, and financial aid and scholarships are uncertain (because they do not transfer from the “3” school to the “2” school). Obviously, they also require an extra year of school and associated costs.

UT Austin, UW, and WF are reach schools.

The other would be targets but not for financial aid.

I’d say they are out of reach because none of them will meet OP’s financial need. They should therefore be taken off the list.

You shouldn’t have public universities on your list because deadlines for full rides (what you need) have passed.
(Unless someone here knows of full rides with jan 1 deadlines?)

A college you may apply to (but, again, deadlines may be past) is BEREA college. Very good college, may take 1 lower income student from your country.

Keep some colleges for next year in case you want to try again  – keeping in mind colleges you applied to this year will be off limits after this cycle, they won’t re read your application in 2024-2025 and change their mind.

Yep. I quickly looked at Wake, but it offers no need aid for internationals.

Can you match me with universities I should maybe consider applying this year because I already have a gap year and wouldn’t want another one? :sob::sob::sob:
I don’t really know what universities I should be looking at atp

Posters here will provide suggestions. But to be fully honest, the chances of being accepted into a school here and receiving sufficient aid to make it affordable, are extremely low.
I am not saying this to discourage you or to diminish your achievements, but merely pointing out facts based on observed experience and statistics. My purpose in saying this is to ensure you have a good affordable backup in your home country. Do you?

Which is why you need a solid alternative at home. That’s not plan B - that’s plan A. Plan B is getting accepted to a US soil with sufficient aid.

Yup. I do. I just need help with deciding what colleges to apply to in the states.

I will try and help

Begin looking up “7 sisters colleges” and the “need blind/meet need” colleges already listed: which appeal to you? Why?

What have you been doing during your gap year (or do you mean school typically ended in Nov and begins in Feb so starting in August would make it almost gap??)

I’m confused. If you already took a gap year, why don’t you have classes/grades for 12th grade?

Between 11th and 12th. So currently enrolled in grade 12

Did I miss it? When was your gap year?

So when they complete 3 years they have to apply for ug in school 2 ? Then is there no benefit of this kinda degree?

Between the two years of grade 11 and 12. So now I’m a senior who’s graduating next year spring. 2024

What did you do during your gap year (work, help care for someone…)

Sometimes they are what is called an affiliate in a program, and sometimes those programs have automatic admissions from affiliates as long as you meet their prereq reuirements. WUSTL’s dual degree program works that way:

https://engineering.wustl.edu/academics/dual-degree-program/index.html

But usually if you know you want to get an undergraduate engineering degree, or have the strong option, it is better just to go to a place you can get it in four years with a known cost. If you want a graduate engineering degree, most people do it the normal way, after a four-year college degree.

@Rint deadline for Texas A&M was December 1.
UT Austin a hard Reach- test scores aren’t high enough, not In State and you won’t get any $$.

I’m confused-you’ve taken 2 gap years? How old are you? Have you applied anywhere yet? What did you do during the gap year(s)?

@Rint

Please clarify. You stated you took a gap year between 11th and 12th grade. Is that correct? So…just one gap year.

And you are currently a HS senior.

Two questions…

  1. Why did you take a gap year between 11th and 12th grade?

  2. What did you do during that year?
