Chance me...! also maybe match to closer fit school than Princeton for REA? Phil of Science + Data Science/Statistics [4.0 UW GPA, 1580 SAT, MD resident]

makes sense

my interests are definitely very deep in the philosophy of science (maybe not general philosophy), but princeton only offers that as a track within philosophy department. in my supps i do talk about wanting to pursue phil of sci so i think i should fit well for indicating an interest in philosophy?

MIT offers a lot of flexibility with majors, minors, & concentrations. You could pursue a minor in philosophy & also a minor in science, tech, & society. You can pursue up to two majors & two minors here. Cosmology, on the other hand, is primarily taught in graduate subjects offered by the physics department. But you can also pursue a graduate subject, meeting prerequisites, and/or an undergraduate research experience here too.

Science, Technology, and Society

Everything is not interchangeable though, even if you can freely move around. You develop very different skills, and have very different careers. Some options will be closed and some open. This is what tsbna44 is saying.

I go back to - ok think about your essays but also think about the other schools. Pitt seems to fit. Utah seems to fit.

This list is from Quora - it doesn’t mean anything but maybe it’s other schools you can study that major.

For philosophy of science: here are the top few ranked - you’d have to look to see if they even have as the list may not be all that. I know Utah does and Wash U do as well.

  1. University of Pittsburgh
  2. Carnegie-Mellon University
  3. Columbia University (incl. Barnard)
  4. University of California, Irvine
  5. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
  6. University of Wisconsin, Madison
  7. New York University
  8. Ohio State University
  9. Stanford University
  10. University of California, San Diego
