applying for 9th grade rising 8th grader no legacy

from: underrepresented city in the south, female, half Filipino half white

Grades: at my school you can only take advanced math eight grade and it’s a pilot program this year-I did not get in but anyway all As and A+s 7th grade, and a few A-s 6th grade (will do well eight) I go to the top private school in my area

Extracurriculars:

Founded Investing Club at my school

Founders of Young Investors of (my city, not disclosing for privacy): we do speaker events, competitions, and advocacy

Large contributor to community service club

President of middle school neuroscience club

just under 100 hours of volunteer work

Interview: I think I interview well…idk? (will update)

Essay: I’m going to write about my love for healthcare and how I’m drawn to medicine but it’s also my source of anxiety and how my grandma is an anesthesiologist in the phillipenes and I want to know more about the system of healthcare less then the actual procedures

Sports:

Club soccer since as long as I can remember ODP in my state and N1 player have been a state finalist and won some regional tournaments (will try to connect with coaches)

Cross Country: Last season I ran a 15:20 for two mile this season I’m already on track to PR my first race and will hopefully run around 13:50

Golf: I play golf for my school but am not talented at all (51 is my score for 9 holes on average?)

Yes, you have a solid chance for these schools, especially if you perform well enough on the SSAT and continue performing well academically and on the soccer pitch. Keep in mind that of the schools you mentioned, Andover and Exeter are need-blind, while the others are “need aware.” Of course, if you want high odds of earning acceptances to boarding schools, expand your net to some schools with slightly easier admission standards.

You sound like you are doing great. I agree you seem to be on track to be competitive for these schools, and a high SSAT would be helpful too. But you really never know how they will end up deciding to shape their class the year you apply. So, it is definitely worth applying, but also well worth having some easier admits on your list if you want to make sure you have options.

The soccer piece could make a difference. Hopefully you can send video to coaches. What is an “N1” player?

ummm so here’s like state league which ofc if you win then regionals, then USYS national championships and there there’s three tiers (D1, D2, D3) but now there’s two main leagues that are better then D1, ECNL and GA/MLS NEXT, N1 is a smaller version of that and also gets invited to ECNL-RL events, mind you if you’re team is in ECNL (ECNL-RL is like a little sibling) 80% go D1 for college (elite club national league-regional league (there’s ECNL And ECNL-RL) so now just being D1 is the regular league isn’t that good and the same is for GA/ MLS-NEXT, I didn’t make it though

the club soccer world is extremely confusing so I’m just playing my best but yeah if Andover were to see an ECNL player, immediate acceptance, and I’m like barely getting invited to ECN-RL college scouting events but it’s still like good

UPDATE: forgot to mention this stuff, I have done Vanderbilt summer program (good prestige) and then admitted to Harvard Crimson Business Competition Global Championship round RAN BY HARVARD CRIMSON NOT HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL so not very prestigious MOST IMPORTANT: started a healthcare drive/volunteering opportunity with a top 20 U.S children’s hospital that’s affiliated with a top 15 university and also the volunteer hours are with an org that makes healthy food for cancer patients and their families
