Chance me as a British-Canadian applying for Aerospace Engineering [8.1/9.0 GCSEs, 1460 SAT, parents do not intend to pay]

Colleges generally don’t like what may be perceived as excuses; when they ‘work’ it is usually along the lines of “this was the issue, but this is how I addressed it and it is fixed now/these circumstances no longer apply”. You only have the first part of that. You said your accommodation paperwork arrived late - when did you write the SAT? Is there a reason you couldn’t schedule and write another once you had the paperwork? Your score is also pretty lopsided - a very good math score but (for these colleges) a low English score. There are, by the way, plenty of universities in the US who would be fine with a 1460 score. Have you considered looking at any of those to see if any offer funding? You’d be better off at a need aware school that might offer funding than at a need-blind one that doesn’t.
