What is the 4 + 1 program? CS masters?

Yes, it bridges to SEAS with Columbia in the 5th year, and will allow me to get my masters.

Hello all! Wanted to keep this updated with all my incoming admission decisions. Just got admitted into PACE University in NYC with a 33k yearly scholarship (apart of their honors college). I also received a full ride to Coastal Carolina University, along with the University of South Carolina. Hopefully this is the first of many!

Te Barnard ED…
So my daughter just got a prestigious award today, and recently some other accolade (accepted invite to join professional big band)….
Should she reach out and update Barnard? Or is it too late by now?

My (uneducated!) guess would be, the final decisions are being made during next week the latest. So if you feel the prestige/recognition of the award, and professional Big Band acceptance, add substantially to her resume, I would get the word to them on/by Monday.

Nobody here works for Barnard admissions and can tell you if decisions have been finalized. That said, it can’t hurt to send a brief email with the update. I’d send the email ASAP.

Hello everyone! Just got my admissions and I did get rejected. I am now moving on to applying to a few more schools, but sending in my ED application to NYU.

Genuinely thank you, for letting us know the outcome!

I recall you already have a number of acceptances “in the bag”, including another college in Manhattan, and some great tuition offers, that might leave your family in a good financial position should you decide to pursue a masters down the road.

While your first choice didn’t happen, your strong application already managed to open other great doors for you!

Hello everyone! I got into Fordham with the Deans Scholarship of about 25k (that will go up with the calculation of FAFSA) and I also got invited into their honors college - with guaranteed housing. I applied to the Lincoln Center campus as a Computer Science Major. I will continue to update this thread for anyone needing insight. Also, thank you all for the kind messages and words! Rejection is most certainly redirection!

  especially Honors with guaranteed housing!
Though 25K+6K Pell + 5.5K fedeal loan= ~35K off 85K= isn’t 50K out of budget?
Seconding Mizzou and Ohio U though scholarship deadlines may have passed already…
:crossed_fingers: NYU Tandon!

It sounds like you really want to go to school in NYC and that’s great. I applied and was rejected from Barnard, but got into Smith and that’s where I went. In hindsight, I’m glad it happened that way. It’s easy to find your way to NYC after college or at any point, but it’s harder to make it in a cool small town in the scenic Pioneer Valley unless you’re going to college there. Smith has a strong computer science program, and while you don’t have Columbia across the street, you do have a free bus to bring you to Amherst, UMass, Hampshire, Mt Holyoke. It’s a different feel than Manhattan, but because of the 5 colleges, there are so many cultural opportunities in the area. If you like NYU, have you looked at BU? We toured there recently with our daughter and she’s not looking for CS, but the CS building was AMAZING and clearly the school is investing heavily in that field. Best wishes to you! You’ll do great no matter where you land, promise!

Just sent in my applications for NYU (ED 2), The Cooper Union for Electrical Engineering, Northeastern University, Boston University, and The College of charleston as another safety. Looking at a few more options but I’m definitely looking foward to these next few weeks!

Hello everyone! It has been a minute but I wanted to update with some recent results. I’ve been accepted into georgia tech for electrical engineering and the University of miami for computer science! Beyond excited for these next applications to roll in! I just wanted to assure anyone reading this thread that rejection is REDIRECTION!! I genuinely thought it was the end of the world getting rejected from my first early decision school. I plan to wait for NYU ED2 and see the Financial aid package. I have a few backup plans if NYU doesn’t work out, but still can’t believe I got to Georgia Tech!! I’ll continue to update with my results!

Hello Everyone! NYU ED 2 came out and unfortunately I was waitlisted. Honestly I do feel a little bummed out, but i know CAS/Tandon are extremely selective this year. I’ll accept my place on the waitlist, and continue to update the admissions office with the more activities I do. I’ll be focusing on getting into the Cooper Union, which is still an amazing school, and just wait until the end of march for all of my other schools. For those interested, I applied to Scripps college, Claremont Makenna, another state school, Williams college, colgate university, Lehigh university, Northeastern, and boston university.
