Chance me for Barnard & Ivies. Transfer, Fall 2025 [NY resident, 95 HS GPA, 1480 SAT, medical anthropology or animal science, pre-vet]

Is that a fact?

Obviously, I do realize that some students transfer out of colleges for perceived poor fit — but anecdotally it seems to me that quite a few transfer students did so (successfully) precisely because the higher probability of success in later semesters, after an initial rejection. Fresh(wo)man acceptances are limited by various bootlenecks, that loosen later?

I completely understand wanted to not give up on your dream of Barnard or Cornell or Penn. So I think you need to be realistic on what your best option is and put your best package in. With your original ED app you either got rejected or deferred. If deferred then you got two looks at your package and both were no. So both test scores and ECs needed improvement. I do not think it is possible to improve your record enough by March to make real headway and your HS package will still play a big role in the look. If you wait till next year you have the opportunity to do a great summer internship and will have 3 semesters of college grads which will help If applying then to the Ivies I would see if you can do it test optional
