<p>Thanks for the clarification @CodeBreaker. While we can hope that Adcoms understand your situation and will allow your grades and ECs to a certain extent, keep in mind that they do have other outstanding applicants that you have to compete with. I suggest you find something to stand out, or maybe take a step forward on something you think you’re best at. If it’s piano (I play the piano too so I understand), then try being super good at it and do something special and join some international competitions outside of your country. That’s what I did and I never regretted it.</p>
<p>My school’s a British styled school, so I have no whatsoever US application or AP classes/supports. Neither do I have the chances to join certain activities because my school is extremely focused on academics, but I took initiatives to self study APs, take professional music classes and participate in competitions, etc. </p>
<p>Show them you’re special apart from your background. Give them a reason to want you.</p>
