I had many memorable interactions with all of the people who wrote me a LOR, and I feel like the letters they wrote me are very strong (although I haven’t seen them of course)

**Schools Ranked:

  • Yale
  • Cornell
  • Stanford
  • Princeton
  • U Chicago
  • Duke
  • U Penn
  • Rice

(If not matched, I’ll also be applying to: The University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of Wisconsin Madison, Hamline (in St. Paul), and University of Michigan Ann Arbor through RD)

The decisions on who the finalists are will be out tomorrow (wish me luck!) If I become a finalist, I’ll have the chance to be accepted to the Match. If I’m missing anything (which I probably am) please let me know!

Thanks!!!

May I suggest you add Macalester, St Olaf, and Carleton or Grinnell in addition to/instead of Hamline?

This kind of ranking doesn’t always produce a match because these are all the most famous colleges in the world&that are at the top of the USNWR list.

You’ve achieved a lot, are clearly very accomplished, and sound like a strong writer, so it’s not hopeless, but your last 2 are Penn and Rice which are huge reaches even with Questbridge. I’d guess the decision will hinge on your essays and LORs, whether they managed to help you truly stand out. All in all, keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully you’ll return tomorrow with good news - and if not we’ll be here to help you pivot.

I’d also recommend Washington & Lee - W&L has a VERY strong QB student body on campus. Several of my friends here at W&L are QB matches, and the school does a lot to help QB scholars transition into college alongside other social events.

Plus W&L has a very strong politics program, with the WashTerm program, a load of alumni connections in politics and elsewhere policy has reach. The Williams School of Politics & Business is also getting a new building which will be ready by Fall 2025!

Even if you aren’t a QB finalist, W&L has a scholarship called the Johnson Scholarship which is a full ride + $10,000 of funds you can use across your 4 years to fund study abroad, internships, and much more. You need to apply by December 1st, but it is not bound for ED only - RD applicants can also apply for the Johnson scholarship.

And if you aren’t selected as a Johnson finalist, W&L is very generous with their financial aid - they have a lot of money to use.

Thank you so much for this info!!
I wish I would’ve posted this sooner because unfortunately, I can’t add W&L to my match list now. But if I’m not matched, I’ll definitely apply regular decision.
Thanks again!
