If you’re interning at a financial advisory firm, then I’d also seek out their thoughts. If someone has experience (perhaps you continue to work with this organization in future summers, too), what role does that play in selection as a permanent member of the team? Are there colleges that they would (not) hire from? What factors do they take into consideration when doing their hiring?
My suspicion (which is a suspicion, not based on real knowledge which some posters in this thread have), is that if you continue to have successful ECs where you can show successful outcomes that resulted from YOUR contributions, and you go to a reputable school (like the ones I listed above), that you can launch a a career in finance (and there is a lot of space in the “finance” world…what aspects of finance are you thinking of?).
I would talk with some folks at UVA’s business department to see how possible it is to transfer from CC into McIntryre, as that would be my greatest concern with that route you’re considering.
