Below are some admission information for the UC’s and assuming the capped weighted is somewhere in the range below:
2019 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCB: 12%
UCLA: 7%
UCSB: 32%
**2020 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range: **
UCB: 4.22 (4.13-4.30)
UCLA: 4.25 (4.18-4.31)
UCSB: 4.17 (4.03-4.27)
Since the UC’s and CSU’s are test blind this admission cycle, HS course rigor and GPA will have a greater impact on all applicants chances. Since you do address your HS course rigor in one of the personal insight essays, it should help your chances but both UCLA and UCB should be considered Reach schools and UCSB a Low Reach/High Match.
Cal Poly SLO’s Marketing concentration is part of the Business Administration major. For 2020, SLO had 5777 Freshman applicants for 581 spots. If you use a 33% yield for the major, you get around a 30% acceptance rate.
The Business school GPA range for admitted students is below:
GPA: 3.96 – 4.25
SLO calculates Freshman applicants GPA using 9-11th grades for the a-g courses and caps the # of honors points to 8 semesters for UC approved Honors, AP/IB or DE courses taken 10-11th grades.
SLO is slightly more realistic as a High Match but definitely not a guarantee. Hopefully you have some solid Match and Safety schools on your list. This year’s admissions are going to be very unpredictable so it is important to apply widely and love your safeties.
Best of luck.
