<p>I would not say you are in excellent shape, but you can definitely contend with the applicant pool. You still have time to get your GPA higher, even though it will probably not rise too much. However, if you are able to really show yourself on the essay I think you could get into UChicago. Also your situation is more unique, and it shows a real passion for a subject. The school will understand as long as you show why it is important to you and how you want to continue it in college.</p>
<p>I was accepted with a 3.67 GPA and a 2010 SAT, so don’t be discouraged.</p>
