<p>@redwall1521 Are you really that ill-informed? Duke has an acceptance rate of 17% and your friend isn’t even as qualified as mediocre for that school. Reach means less than 20% chance of acceptance. You’re right that they compare her to kids from your school, but they also compare her to kids around the nation such as ones that live in Silicon Valley in which even Sophomores take Calculus BC as juniors. If you, and your friend believe that taking BC and AP Lang as a junior is suicidal, then you both don’t belong to Ivy League. Most Ivy League students take 4 AP’s as sophomores, 6-7 AP’s as juniors, and 5-6 AP’s as seniors.</p>
<p>BC is also the highest level of math at my school, but Ivy’s look for go-getters. If she stops at BC she’ll hardly seem average in the eyes of the admissions officer which is fine by me. I’m all for everyone applying to these schools, but the point of this website is for kids to realize where they stand compared to other students that are applying to the same schools and programs. </p>
