The atmosphere at NU is generally liberal and I am confident you will be able to develop a strong social circle and find people who care about the same issues you do. One of the things that surprised me most when I arrived on campus is how relatively apolitical the campus is. While the student body is definitely left-leaning, there was not as much political engagement or activism as I had thought there would be. While it may sound trite, the student body is diverse enough that many different personalities can thrive. </p>
