Yes, they are. They’re highly selective though.
Yes, I think it is critical for high need Internationals to understand that there is no such thing as a US college with high aid offers available for Internationals that are not incredibly competitive to get. There are simply too many highly qualified Internationals that want such offers in comparison to the number of offers available.
But if you identify as a woman, and have excellent credentials, and their average International award would be enough (or close to it) . . . then a women’s college might be a relatively good choice for you. Still, emphasis on relative–most such women are still not going to get such an offer because even collectively they still do not have nearly enough such offers to go around. But because they do have some narrowing criteria, if you actually fit those criteria, you at least are not competing with all the otherwise highly qualified Internationals who do not fit those criteria.
Do you have any idea what are some of those criterias and where I could look for them? I mean i have excellent credentials but ECs not so much
I just meant you identify as a woman, and might have some related experiences.
If you’re currently a girl with high academic credentials and can write interesting essays, you have a shot. It’s possible but not likely - but worth taking a shot.
One thing that might be worth mentioning: Students at Wellesley College are permitted to take courses at MIT, and at a few other schools (I think that Brandeis might be another option). When I was a student at MIT, I did the opposite, and took a couple of classes at Wellesley College. There is a bus that runs back and forth between the two schools on a regular schedule.
This will be interpreted in the context of what is available to you wherever you are. A part time job is a good EC. Looking after a younger sibling or a grandparent is a good EC. Anything that involves cooperating with and helping other people, or showing a commitment over time to achieving almost anything of value, if it is outside of your normal high school classes then it is an EC.
I believe i can do that, my grades are indeed high and for the essays I have time for them.
