Chance Me/Match Me Questbridge College Match Applicant [WA resident, 3.97 GPA in IBDP, 1530 SAT, biology, psychology]

So you’re saying, JHU could have been on the QB list and not matched.

Then they applied ED to JHU and were accepted?

Both things are true……?

Yes, if OP didn’t become a finalist on Oct 21, they were free to apply ED wherever they want (even if they ranked schools by Oct 15 deadline). See the link I posted above

ETA: Only QB finalists have a chance to match. QB applicants submit their school ranking (if they choose to) before they find out if they are a finalist.

Ahhh -

I guess, I’d think, if I listed on QB and didn’t match, I wouldn’t then ED to a school that already passed me by. Nor would I even apply to that school at all.

Obviously, OP went right back to them - and it was a smart move!!

Great for them!!

We don’t know what happened with OP’s situation…I am assuming they did not become a finalist because OP didn’t say that on this thread. So, there was no chance to match with any school that they ranked (if they ranked schools.) If OP didn’t become a finalist (or if they didn’t rank schools), schools did not see OP’s ranked list, so there were no schools 'that passed them by." If that is the case, the JHU ED app would have been the first time JHU saw OP’s app/profile.

OP said upthread they were rejected from QB. I assumed that meant they didn’t become a finalist (although the word choice is confusing!)

Yes that’s what I meant! Sorryyy

Indeed I wasn’t a QB finalist.

I was planning to place it top of my list but the rejection from questbridge came before the due data for the college list, so I didn’t have a list submitted at all!

Congrats to you. It’s near as good. You’re going to your top choice. How great.
