If you ED to Emory or NYU and get accepted, you need to attend where you got accepted. It’s up to you to do your due diligence regarding affordability. Are your parents really on board with the net costs for you to attend these colleges? Have you run the Net price calculators?

Are your parents divorced? Do they own their own business or are they self employed? Do they own real estate in addition to your primary residence? If NO, then the NPC should give you a decent estimate of your net costs.

Please make sure you are applying to colleges that will be affordable.

I understand what you are saying they are business owners and own real-estate and can afford the cost and we have calculated what the cost should be around

That’s great. If your parents are able and willing to pay the full cost of attendance at any college, please give them a HUGE thank you and a huge hug. That is a wonderful gift.

As business owners and owners of additional real estate, it’s possible that this could be the case.

The net price calculator likely won’t be accurate for you…but that doesn’t matter as long as your parents are willing to fund any college.

We were full pay parents…so I understand this.

Just here to give another vote to SUNY-ESF and mention that it’s basically part of the Syracuse campus. It’s almost like getting to go to Syracuse for SUNY prices. It’s a really neat and unique place. Definitely check it out.

In this case the net price calculators are likely to be inaccurate with respect to need based aid. You should assume that you will be full pay. If you are pleasantly surprised so much the better, but do not expect it. A few NPCs might predict merit aid, which should not be impacted by your parent’s business.
