Ah. When you said you self studied Precal I figured that meant you glanced through the textbook and did a few problems here and there. The facts that you did all coursework and had teacher supervision make it waaaay better. And for your essays, should you choose to write about your travels or internships, let them know that it was all YOU who arranged them so they don’t get the wrong idea.

I would focus on junior track and just try to get recruited to MIT. JHU is top in the country for D3 XC and it can be hard to be recruited there (And MIT does recruit athletes, the rumors about them not caring about athletics in admissions are not true). The D1 schools are obviously unlikely for recruitment, unless you were to improve a lot this year. I think you have a good shot RD for both Northwestern and JHU, the other schools will be toss ups.

Stanford - High reach
MIT - Mid reach
Brown - Mid reach
UPenn - Mid reach
Harvard - High reach
Cambridge - IDK
JHU - High match
Northwestern - Low reach

@Tanboyfast thank you for that advice. Do you have any idea what kind of times I need to be running to be eligible or likely to be recruited for MIT?
Right now I’m at 20:17 5k, 12:30 3200, 5:45 1600, 2:29 800 but I think I will really be able to improve as that was my first time ever running those distances and I am doing focused winter running this time around.
