Chance me to Fordham Gabelli (ED2)

Yes I did give up on BU.

I’m not applying for Business administration anymore btw. I’m in between marketing and digital media since they are easier to get in.

I also have more extracurricular that align with business.(internship, work at a small business, etc)

  1. For the person who said ā€œI earnedā€ my F like I deserve it because I didn’t do anything. Just to let you know, I wasn’t even able to turn assignments in and the majority of the people who also took psychology with me got an F. How the ā– ā– ā– ā–  can I earn an F if I wasn’t able to do anything in the portal. Also, I did try to drop out VERY early but my counselor literally blocked me from doing so, as I would have to pay amounts of money and other excuses that she said. I tried emailing people (professor and other people from the school)but no one responded.
  2. Yes, I know I have bad grades. I’m not blind.
  3. I will 1000% use the additional information section to explain why I got the F and the other bad grades. I won’t blame it on people but I will say the circumstances that made me get the grades I got.
  4. Y’all make it seem like Fordham is an Ivy League. If I person doesn’t have a 4.0 and 1500 suddenly they are screwed. The amount of people that said Gabelli was in between a 30-50% was too many. Also the average gpa is between a 3.6-3.9 from what I’ve seen. Truly, in the kindest way possible, go outside.

For those who did try to help me, gave me other colleges to apply, and what they think without bashing a kid trying to get into college, thanks. The help is appreciated.

They’re all in the Gabelli school.

Having ECs aligned don’t necessarily matter. Schools want to see kids who are involved - it doesn’t matter if you walk dogs, are in band, on a sports team, etc.

If you explain why you got the F, you will get rejected - in my opinion. Nobody wants an excuse maker. You got an F - own it. There’s nothing to explain.

Everyone has tried to help you.

Good luck with your application. Let us know how it goes. Full pay definitely helps!!!

OP- you sound like a terrific person and any college would be lucky to have you.

You do not need any specific major to be an analyst (I’m assuming you mean something in I-Banking, asset management or related?). You need strong math/quant skills, great communication skills, and a ton of intellectual curiosity. There are lots of folks on CC who have hired analysts- one of the best I’ve hired was a geology major. He had developed his own model/algorithm for predicting volcanic eruptions and everyone who interviewed him said ā€˜Hire this guy!ā€. He knew nothing about finance, but a model is a model. He learned how to do the DCF stuff and the finance-specific lingo in a day.

So if I were you, I’d be less worried about a specific program, and focus more on finding several schools (and Fordham is terrific) which will give you the broadest education and make you the best thinker you can be.

Just a note on your International status- is it your intention to stay in the US after you graduate? If so, just stay aware of all the changes going on right now in the US Immigration space. Not favorable to International students- sadly for our country.

And don’t worry AT ALL about your EC’s ā€œmatchingā€ your career interests. Working at a yogurt store; camp counselor; volunteering at a nursing home; starting a business to clean out the basements/garages of elderly people who are downsizing; stacking shelves at a food pantry. All of these are wonderful EC’s which just show that you are an involved person with initiative and drive.

And for Fordham (and any other religious heritage type college you may be looking at- whether Catholic, Quaker, etc.) some service element is typically a plus in admissions. Showing a commitment to ā€œgiving backā€ can be more important than a career oriented EC, even for Gabelli.

Good luck!
