If you are an OOS applicant who doesn’t apply ED to UVA, both UVA and UNC have gotten ridiculously competitive EA as there are just so many qualified OOS applicants and no real way for them to know who would come if accepted so it will take a bit of chance to be admitted to either one if EA.
