Auburn Acceptances
I currently have a child in the Auburn Foundation Unit program - loving it! They began with 28, 3 are not continuing after this past semester and 2 were not retained for Spring - leaving 23 in the Foundation Program.
Summer Option Program (summer AFTER Freshman year) – not sure of the numbers, but usually 100-120 students for 1st summer (6 weeks), they retain around 60 for 2nd summer (6 weeks) and then approximately 30 move on for Sophomore year with the ones that completed Foundation Unit.
SOOOO many students really were not aware of the whole workings of this even though it is all over the CADC web site in various places.
For those of you accepted or applying: CADC - College of Architecture, Design and Construction - read about first year admission. You are in Architecture, but it has not been determined which unit you will be in. Some students were surprised when they went to orientation.

Also, for any wishing to see a glimpse of one aspect of the program, make sure to read up on the Rural Studio. They have rec’d a lot of recognition this year because of this program - they have a display at MOMA, a PBS documentary “Citizen Architect” which was wonderful. “Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio”

I have to say I have had moments I have wondered why I would even let my child major in Architecture - not because of concern about a job in the future, but more for their sanity because of the demands. However, I can see what she has already gotten out of the program which I am not sure happens at every school. Their final project was a group project - all 28 working together and amazing results that came out of it. They had times I am sure they could not stand each other, but the respect they gained for each other cannot be duplicated in any other manner. They learned to work with each other vs. some programs where they compete against each other.

If anyone has questions, wants more info or would even like info on this final project which was tied in with the South’s Best Robotics Regional Finals please feel free to private message me. The info she has passed on is too much to put on here!
