<p>Well, I mean, it’s clear this guy is smart.</p>
<p>English is his second language and he still got 600+ scores on all sections of the SAT, even critical reading and writing.</p>
<p>I totally believe Chinese school is harder, and it’s also impressive that he self-studied for all of his exams and received strong scores on many of them (I don’t think I would’ve mentioned that you forgot your calculator, though - all that proves is that you’re disorganized/ditzy! Especially since a 4 is a decent score). </p>
<p>I wouldn’t guess that an American 3.67 kid with SAT subsections below 700 and a major EC being “competitive video gamer” would be very confident in his/her admissions chances at UC. But I suppose we don’t really know how they evaluate international applicants - I for one have no idea how they evaluate an international’s GPA or scores on US standardized tests. Even EC-involvement is culturally different to some extent…</p>
