OP, going back to the $$ question: as you have now put med school possibly into play @tsbna44’s question as to how you want to spend your education $$ is even more germane. If they genuinely love W&M or VCU, every uni that costs more should ‘earn’ those extra $$ by offering something that the in-state schools really don’t and can’t. If med school comes into play down the road, every dollar that doesn’t have to be borrowed will matter. If med school doesn’t come into play, but a Masters program does, having some/all of it covered will make a meaningful difference in quality of life. And if grad school doesn’t come into play at all, but there is leftover $$, there are a lot of ways it could help a young person getting going on life (though I would wait until after, say, 25 as sometimes there are a few years between college & grad school)
