I assume you have seen most if not all these links- but they will help you see if you are on track. It isn’t ALL about SAT scores, but be aware that SAT scores are rising. 2010 scores for mid 50% comfort zone are right around 600 MIN! for writing and reading with higher (620-630) in math and the trend for the past 2-3 years has seen a jump in scores of 10-20 points in each section. I think I saw total scores of mid 25%-75% of accepted students last year ranged from 1880-2080. I assume as the school continues to attract more students those middle range scores will rise. Also, make sure you are taking the most difficult classes you can. GPA and class rank are good, but here is my 2 cents: when I think of engineering i think of AP calc! They will notice that you are at honors pre-calc. If that is the highest your school has to offer you are fine but you are competing with alot of students who will have completed or are taking AP calc AB and BC possibly. If you are thinking computers does your school offer AP Computer Science? it might be a better choice than AP Stats. Don’t give up but perhaps talk to guidance at your school if possible to help you make your best impression through class selection. They may also be able to tell you who from your high school was successful getting int NEU and what their stats were. Good luck. My D will be a Freshman next year. She is so excited, it seems like a wonderful place to be. Good Luck!!!
