It would be nice to build a rapport, as I’m sure he could be an ally. Emory does sound like a good fit for you with your interests in medicine and the CDC. You do need to think of a good question as an ice-breaker. Why not describe yourself and ask him about scholarship and financial aid opportunities for African Americans?
