<p>I’m a high school teacher with access to a lot of kids’ grades and scores, and I have seen kids with lower GPAs than this get into UGA. They all have a compelling story. I agree with fins34 about your being a no-go for early, but I think if you can make a good case for yourself in your essays, they will give you a close look during RD. </p>
<p>I am not sure that UGA prefers in-state. I think they just prefer great candidates! Be enthusiastic about why you want to go there, what you love about the school, and what makes it such a good fit for you. </p>
<p>I hope your dad is much better. That’s a tough experience for a teenager.</p>
